LYSAKER, Norway – Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) has awarded a joint venture between Aker Solutions and PTAS Sdn Bhd a five-year agreement to provide offshore maintenance and modification services.
The scope of work covers maintenance and upgrades to maintain production levels for more than 200 facilities offshore Brunei.
The joint venture, named PTAS Aker Solutions Sdn Bhd, is said to provide a strong local execution capability supported by Aker Solutions’ international expertise.
All work will be managed from the JV office in Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam.
In 2012 BSP awarded Aker Solutions an offshore reliability maintenance and construction contract and over the intervening years, Aker claims to have introduced new working methods and technology to BSP.
It has also raised local content by training a local workforce and establishing a fabrication yard that it subsequently handed over to a local company.
