LYSAKER, NorwayAker BP has entered a six-year contract arrangement with Framo for seawater lift pumps on the Norwegian shelf.

Remuneration will be linked directly to facility uptime.

In 2018, the duo and AI software specialist Cognite started a joint digital pilot project for predictive maintenance of seawater lift pumps on the Ivar Aasen field in the North Sea.

The success of this pilot, according to Aker BP, led to the signing of a new maintenance contract covering all five field centers that the company operates.

“Going forward, algorithms and sensor data will help us to increase uptime and reduce maintenance on our seawater lift pumps,” said Kjetrel Digre, head of operations and field development at Aker BP.

The company’s performance-based model agreements determine compensation to the contractor on system reliability and performance.

Since signing the original contract at ONS Stavanger in 2018, large volumes of data have been relayed to the mainland, and digital boards developed based on sensor data from Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) and algorithms from Framo.

An incentive model was negotiated around these elements.

According to Trond Petter Abrahamsen, managing director of Framo Services, the company has used the data flows to predict the condition of equipment, foresee what will happen with the pumps in future, and plan effective maintenance.

“We are now continuing this co-operation into the future and over to the other fields,” he added.
