GODALMING, UK – An initial 72-hr production test has finished at the Hurricane Energy-operated Lancaster oil field west of Shetland through the FPSO Aoka Mizu.

Combined flow from both wells during the test period was at the planned rate of 20,000 b/d of oil.

Hurricane now expects a gradual ramp-up in the facilities’ availability over the first six months of production, the longer-term target being an operating efficiency of 85%.

According to chief executive Dr. Robert Trice: “Lancaster is the UK’s first producing fractured basement field…

“We have successfully achieved our start-up data acquisition objectives and commenced the evaluation of this material. Up to 12 months of stable production will be required in order to provide a clear view of the reservoir and enable us to plan for associated full field development scenarios.”
