HOUSTON --INTEC Engineering won a contract to perform detailed design of flowlines and export pipelines for the Thunder Hawk field. The Murphy E&P-operated project is in Mississippi Canyon block 734 in 5,710 ft (1,740 m) water depth.

INTEC's contracted workscope includes detailed design of the twin 8-in. (203-mm) x 4.5-mi (7.2-km) insulated flowlines that will transport production from subsea wells to the Thunder Hawk semisubmersible host in MC 736. The contract also calls for detailed design of the two 12-in. (305-mm) export pipelines that will connect to the Mardi Gras Transportation System.

Detailed design work includes wall thickness selection, cathodic protection design, expansion and lateral buckling analysis, pipeline crossing analysis, pipeline routing, and tie-in jumper spool design.

Work is scheduled to be finished by mid-year.
