STAVANGER, Norway --BP Norge has contracted Subsea 7 for subsea installations related to its Skarv/Idun project in the Norwegian Sea.
Subsea 7 will fabricate and install 42 km (26.1 mi) of flowlines, comprising 35 km (21.75 mi) of 12-in. (30.5-cm) and 10-in. (25.4-cm) clad production lines, and 7 km (4.35 mi) of 10-in. (25.4 cm) carbon steel gas injection lines. For Idun, it will attach a direct electrical heating cable to that field's 13 km (8.1 mi) flowline.
The company will handle engineering for the $125 million contract from its base in Stavanger, with fabrication performed at its new facility in Vigra, western Norway, starting early 2010. Offshore installations should start that spring, using the pipelay vesselSkandi Navica.
The FPSO for the development will be located around 200 km (124 mi) offshore Sandnessjoen. Water depths for the subsea installations vary from 350-450 m (1,148-1,476-ft).
