HARTLEPOOL, UK --Technip's pipelay vessel Apache has completed installation of a replacement pipeline between the Forties Bravo and Charlie platforms in the UK North Sea.

Forties operator Apache North Sea contracted Corus Tubes to supply 5.25 km (3.26 mi) of 14-in. (35.56 cm) diameter, 16 mm (0.63-in.) thick steel linepipe for use in water depths of around 420-ft (128 m).

Corsu delivered the consignment within nine weeks of receiving the order. After manufacturing the pipe at its mill in Hartlepool, northeast England, using high frequency induction welding, BSR Pipeline Services coated it with three-layer polypropylene.

The pipe was then sent to Envanton in northern Scotland for spooling onto theApache and installed offshore via the reel-lay method.
