Bredero Shaw to coat Shetlands gas line

Corus UK has contracted Bredero Shaw for pipeline coatings for Total’s Laggan-Tormore gas-condensate export project west of Shetland.

HOUSTON -- Corus UK has contracted Bredero Shaw for pipeline coatings for Total’s Laggan-Tormore gas/condensate export project west of Shetland.

Under the $90-million plus order, Bredero Shaw will treat around 298 km (185 mi) of 18-in. (45-cm) pipe and 241 km (150 mi) of 30-in. (76-cm) pipe with a three-layer polypropylene anti-corrosion coating; internal flow efficiency coating; and concrete weight coating. The program should start this fall.

The Laggan and Tormore gas fields are 125 km (78 mi) west of Shetland in water depths of up to 600 m. Bredero Shaw’s coating facility in Edinburgh will execute the contract.
