BJ Services completes Akpo subsea pipeline pre-commissioning

BJ Services has completed a subsea pipeline pre-commissioning operation for Saipem on the Akpo field, offshore Nigeria using the deepwater support vessel Bourboun Trieste and FPSO Akpo.

ABERDEEN, UK -- BJ Services has completed a subsea pipeline pre-commissioning operation for Saipem on the Akpo field, offshore Nigeria using the deepwater support vessel Bourboun Trieste and FPSO Akpo. The field lies in water depths of 3,936 ft to 4,593 ft (1,200 m to 1,400 m).

Phase 1 of the operation involved pre-commissioning of a 91-mi (147-km) gas export pipeline. During Phase 2, the company pre-commissioned production, water injection, gas injection, and oil offloading lines. BJ Services’ workscope included post-lay flooding cleaning and gauging pigging, post tie-in hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, and nitrogen packing services.

The final phase included pre-commissioning, including hydraulic and electrical testing, on infield static and dynamic umbilicals ranging from 3 to 6 mi (5 to 10 km).
