OSLO -- The Petroleum Saftey Authority Norway has granted Gassco consent to carry out modifications at the Kollsnes natural gas processing plant in Norway.

The modification includes tie-in of new P12 gas pipes from the Troll A platform in the Norwegian North Sea to the Kollsnes process facility and a new MEG and water treatment system.

The consent covers:
- Tie-in of P12 gas pipes from Troll A, including reception and auxiliary systems
- Upgrade of MEG regeneration facility
- Upgrade of water treatment system

The existing MEG trains are being replaced because of corrosion. The new units will be built using a more resistant material and will have increased capacity.

Construction work is scheduled to begin in January 2010. The new facilities will be ready for regular operation in March 2012, Gassco says.
