Bredero Shaw receives Shell contract

TORONTO, Canada -- Bredero Shaw Sdn. Bhd. has received a $35 million contract to coat pipe for Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd.'s Gumusut-Kakap deepwater project, in the South China Sea 120 km (75 mi) offshore Sabah.

The project will be executed at the Bredero Shaw facility in Kuantan, Malaysia.

The project requires 40 km (25 mi) of 18-in (46 cm) pipe to be protected with Fusion Bonded Epoxy and ThermoFlo D insulation coating, designed for water depths of 1,200 m (3937 ft).

Processing equipment, designed by Bredero Shaw, will be mobilized and pre-qualification testing will be completed in December 2008. The insulation coating application will begin by the end of 1Q 2009.
