SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy -- Saipem has won two offshore engineering contracts in South America with a total value of around $600 million.
Petrobras awarded an EPIC contract for the Lula NE – Cernambi gas export pipeline in the Santos basin presalt region, 270 km (168 mi) from the coast of São Paulo state, Brazil. It will connect the Cernambi field to a central manifold on the Lula field.
The program involves engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation of the 19-km (11.8-mi) long, 18-in. (46-cm) diameter pipeline and associated subsea equipment, to be laid in a maximum water depth of 2,200 m (7,218 ft).
Saipem’s deepwater construction vesselSaipem FDS 2 will perform most of the installations in the second half of 2013. This will be the third export flow line to be installed by the vessel from the new presalt FPSOs, following Guara and Lula NE. It will also be the first project to make use of Saipem’s new base in Guarujá for pipe logistics and storage.
Offshore Venezuela, PDVSA Petroleo has contracted Saipem for transportation and installation of the Dragon – CIGMA gas export pipeline, part of the “Delta Caribe Oriental” project.
The 110-km (68.3-mi) long, 36-in. (91-cm) sea line will connect the Dragon gas platform, about 50 km (31 mi) off Venezuela’s northeast coast, to the CIGMA complex close to Guiria and in the Gulf of Paria, Sucre state.
The Castoro 7 pipelay vessel will perform most of the offshore activities, which should be completed early in 2013.
