ERLANGEN, Germany – The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) consortium has contracted Siemens to supply six 15-MW SGT-400-driven turbo compressor trains.
TAP, which will open up a new gas corridor for imports to southern Europe, is set to begin operating in late 2019.
Gas will come from theShah Deniz II field development in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
The 878-km (545-mi) TAP pipeline will connect with theTrans Anatolian Pipeline at the Turkish-Greek border at Kipoi, crossing Greece, Albania, and the Adriatic Sea to come ashore in southern Italy.
Each of the six gas turbine-driven compressor trains will comprise an SGT-400 industrial gas turbine and a Siemens barrel-type STC-SV compressor.
Siemens will deliver three compressor trains to the compressor station in Kipoi, and three more to the compressor station at the TAP landfall in Albania, 17 km (10.6 mi) northwest of Fier and up to 400 m (1,312 ft) inland from the shoreline.
Here, the natural gas will be compressed to up to 130 bar (1,885 psi) before transferring through the 105-km (65.2-mi) sealine whichSaipem is installing between the Albanian and Italian coasts.
