Proven Engineering, based near Glasgow in Scotland, will supply five 2.5 kW wind turbines to Shell for installation on unmanned satellite gas platforms in the southern North Sea. These will allow the platforms in the Dutch and UK sectors to operate year-round in extreme weather and to generate power for navigation lights and wellheads.

In other North Sea contract news, Vetco Gray has clinched a five-year frame agreement with Encana (UK) to provide subsea wellheads, trees, and production controls for the company's UKCS operations, led by the Buzzard field development. The scope of supply includes Vetco Gray's proprietary well intervention test system.
