FMC Technologies Inc. plans to increase its subsea manufacturing and service capabilities in 2005 by expanding its service base in Angola and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Malaysia.
The expansion of FMC Technologies' service base in Luanda, Angola, will consist of additional land and facilities, including assembly, fabrication, testing, and storage areas. This capacity expansion will better enable the provision of local content for West Africa subsea projects.
FMC Technologies also plans to move from its existing, leased manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia, to a larger, owned facility nearby in the State of Johor. The new manufacturing facility will improve FMC Technologies' ability to supply surface and subsea completion systems for the Malaysian market and will increase the company's subsea capacity for the entire Asia Pacific region.
"These capacity expansions will enable FMC Technologies to supply local content and better serve existing and future customer needs for subsea developments in the growing West Africa and Asia Pacific offshore regions," Peter D. Kinnear, executive vice president – FMC Technologies, said.
