Total entered the Thai sector in 1989 through joint exploration of the Bongkot field with PTTEP. It also has an interest in Myanmar's Yadana natural gas field. Total is interested in exploring both onshore and offshore fields, depending on how the Ministry of Energy determines the bids for each field. The French company is also willing to swap some of its fields abroad for PTTEP stakes in other fields.
