CNOOC Ltd. produces first oil in South China Sea

CNOOC Ltd. saw first oil from the Huizhou 19-3/2/1 fields in block 16/08 and 16/19 about 120 km southeast of Hong Kong in the eastern section of the South China Sea.

CNOOC Ltd. saw first oil from the Huizhou 19-3/2/1 fields in block 16/08 and 16/19 about 120 km southeast of Hong Kong in the eastern section of the South China Sea. The Huizhou 19-3-1 production well produced at 6,500 b/d. CNOOC plans to gradually bring more wells onstream.

The development comprises two platforms, 14 wells, and a subsea pipeline from the platforms to theNanhai Faxian FPSO. Peak gross production capacity for the fields is designed at 45,000 b/d.

CNOOC, Eni China BV, ChevronTexaco China Energy Co. make up the CACT Operators Group, which operates the blocks. CNOOC holds 51% interest.
