ALASKA --Total E&P USA Inc. has won 32 offshore blocks in an oil and gas lease sale in Alaska, subject to MMS approval.
The blocks cover an area of about 750 sq km (290 sq m), 40 km (25 mi) off the northern coast of Alaska in average water depth of 35 m (115 ft).
Total says the exploration period is 10 years. The company is considering conducting a seismic survey to identify the main prospects and possible locations for the exploration wells.
According to Total, this acquisition falls in line with the company's strategy of focusing on prospects with high long-term potential.
