Saipem to install Ekofisk southern platforms

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has contracted Saipem for platform installations for its Greater Ekofisk southern area development in the Norwegian North Sea.

MILAN, Italy -- ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has contracted Saipem for platform installations for its Greater Ekofisk southern area development in the Norwegian North Sea.

The program entails engineering, project management, transportation, and installation of two platforms, weighing 15,000 and 16,000 tons (13,608 and 14,515 metric tons), in water depths of 70-80 m (229-262 ft). Saipem’s remit also extends to the bridges connecting the platforms to the existing Ekofisk complex.

The crane barge Saipem 7000 will perform the offshore installations during 2012 and 2013.
