(Windhoek) Work on commercializing the Kudu gasfield off Namibia is progressing well, according to operator Tullow Oil. Following completion of the front end engineering design study, the company put out a pre-qualification enquiry for a four-well subsea development and an onshore gas conditioning plant. More construction tenders should be issued this year.

Discussions over regulatory arrangements for the associated gas-power generation plant are also on track. Namibia's Ministry of Mines and Energy has approved the production license for the Kudu field area, and gas sales agreement negotiations are nearly completed. Tullow is currently planning a two-well appraisal program on Kudu, starting early in 2007.
