Statoil teams up with four contractors to develop new techniques to improve field operations

(Stavanger) Statoil has formed an agreement with ABB, Aker Kvaerner, IBM and SKF to develop new technology to improve its fields' operational efficiency. It will also be applied to new field developments on the Atlantic Margin and the Barents Sea.

The three-year agreement, valued at NOK 120 m, will apply technology such as advanced process control, smart field operations, and condition monitoring. The project will also establish a co-operation with the Research Council of Norway, small and mid-size companies with niche technologies, and research institutions.
