(Canada)-Ferguson Modular has recently secured a major rental contract for the provision of an accommodation complex on GlobalSantaFe'sGalaxy II jackup.
The jackup is being utilized as an accommodation support vessel for Italian operator Saipem, on the Thebaud field offshore of Nova Scotia.
The approximately $873,000 contract calls for Ferguson to provide a three-story complex of 13 units that will create accommodation for up to 64 personnel. Facilities will include eight accommodation modules, recreation rooms, locker room, a tea shack and offices. A fully integrated A60 stair tower system will also be fitted for sheltered access.
The units were completed in February and are now on their way to Canada for hook up.
Ferguson's Module Hire division secured the contract. Gary Wilson, divisional manager, Module Hire said "We were delighted to have secured the award with Saipem where our reputation and track record for delivering on time was a vital factor in their decision. We commissioned a series of new builds for this particular project and delivered within the agreed timescales."
Bob Holmes, project engineer for GlobalSantaFe said "We have been very pleased with the response from Ferguson Modular to the short lead time on this project where the delivery schedule was vital. Ferguson's project management was also carried out to a very high standard, quickly responding to all our requests over the delivery period."
Graeme Bisset, Module Hire manager added, "Since the launch of our new accommodation module designs we have seen an increase in rental orders both in the North Sea and abroad. We are currently the only local company 'manufacturing in house' offshore Temporary Living Quarters (TLQ's) and this capability supported by our capacity gives us full control over the production and delivery process which of course is a major benefit to the end client. With production levels currently very high we have also strengthened our workforce recruiting an additional 14 personnel across the Hire and Manufacturing Divisions."
