(US, GoM) - Noble Energy and its partners made a discovery on the Redrock prospect located in deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
The well, Mississippi Canyon Block 204 #1, was spudded on Dec. 30, 2005, and is located in 3,334 ft of water.
The well drilled to a total measured depth of 23,365 ft.
While the resource estimation is still ongoing, high quality pay was encountered in one objective as expected.
The quality and extent of a second objective is still under evaluation, and further appraisal work on this discovery will continue this year and on into 2007.
Noble Energy is currently moving the drilling rig from Redrock to the adjacent Raton prospect (Mississippi Canyon Block 248).
The Raton well will spud in April 2006 and is located in 3,379 ft of water. It will be drilled to a total measured depth of approximately 20,000 ft.
Drilling operations at Raton are expected to be completed early in 3Q 2006.
Noble Energy Inc. is the operator of Redrock with a 50% working interest; EPL and Samson Offshore Co. each have a 25% working interest.
