(Aberdeen) Norway's Ability Group (AGR) looks set to purchase well construction services provider The Peak Group for £26 m. AGR, based near Bergen, is a relatively new well engineering group, with 940 employees. Aberdeen-based Peak was established in 1997, and employs over 90 staff.

Last year, Peak managed drilling of 24 wells for a variety of oil companies, and has increasingly spread its operations beyond the UK North Sea, latterly to Australia. Like AGR, it has used the semisub Bredford Dolphin in its multi-well campaigns; AGR recently contracted the rig for three years.

Peak will continue to operate out of Aberdeen. AGR sees the alliance as a way of furthering its international ambitions.
