(Aberdeen) A ConocoPhillips-operated well has confirmed a substantial discovery in the UK Central North Sea. Partner BG Group has estimated recoverable reserves in the range 100-275 MM bbl, potentially the largest new find in this part of the UK sector since Buzzard.
The well was a sidetrack from the discovery well, drilled earlier this year, the structure straddling blocks PO11 and POO32/7a. The location is 9-km west of ConocoPhillips' Judy complex. BG says the consortium is looking for early development sanction, adding that that this is its fifth discovery in the North Sea over the past 12 months.
