(Aberdeen) ConocoPhillips has confirmed that an exploratory well drilled in the UK North Sea early this year found commercial quantities of gas and condensate. Well 30/6-6 was drilled in a water depth of 80 m, 9-km west of the Judy field. A sidetrack of the well, drilled to a true vertical depth of 4,800 m, resulted in a gross hydrocarbon column of over 600 m within Triassic Joanne sandstone.

UK managing director Archie Kennedy said the company was evaluating results, to determine how to proceed with regard to further appraisal and development. Partners in the license are Eni and BG Group.
