Offshore staff

ABERDEEN, UK -- EDP will develop the Barnacle field via an extended reach well from the Brent D platform. Drilling should get under way early next year, with first production some time next spring.

Barnacle is a formerly stranded discovery 5.5 km northeast of the platform in UK North Sea blocks 211/29s and 211/30a. EDP will hold 100% of the license relating to the accumulation, but Shell will be duty holder and operator during the development phase, which has an estimated cost of $31 million.
