Norwegian gas leaks stemmed

(Oslo) Norsk Hydro's Njord field platform manager, Oyvin Halle, recently received an award from Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority, in recognition of Hydro's recent record to stem offshore gas leaks.
Across the Norwegian shelf, there were over 40 leakages exceeding 0/1kg/sec in 2003. Following a trans-industry initiative started in 2004, the incident level was reduced heavily last year. Hydro cut its own leakages from 13 in 2002 to five in 2005. The key points are contact with offshore personnel, follow-up and persistent vigilance, Halle said.
