Wintershall remodels K10-V platform for new service on L5-C gas field

(The Hague) Wintershall has transferred a redundant platform from Dutch North Sea block K10-V to its L5-C gas field. Following an extensive overhaul program, the platform will shortly produce gas in its new location. An 8-km subsea pipeline will transport the production to Wintershall's L8-P4 platform: combined reserves from the associated fields are around 4.3 bcm.

The re-vamped installation's deck weighs 1,500 t, and is supported by a 47-m fixed jacket. The process of dismantling and reconstruction took seven months, quicker and less costly than commissioning a brand new platform, the company claims. Once in service, L5-C will be monitored remotely from Wintershall's control center in The Netherlands.
