Canadian Superior Energy has entered into a contract for the semisubmersible Kan Tan IV to drill the first of two exploration wells on the Intrepid block 5(c) offshore Trinidad.

(South America) - Canadian Superior Energy has entered into a contract for the semisubmersibleKan Tan IV to drill the first of two exploration wells on the Intrepid block 5(c) offshore Trinidad.
The semisub is managed by A. P. Moller - Maersk A/S of Denmark and owned by BeijingZhiyuan Industries of China.
Canadian Superior plans to begin drilling on the first of two back-to-back wells to evaluate two separate large 3D seismically defined potential natural gas structures as soon as theKan Tan IV has completed a scheduled refurbishment currently underway in Texas.
The refurbishment is expected to be completed in approximately 20 weeks, and the rig is scheduled to begin drilling shortly thereafter, after it is tested and towed to the first location offshore Trinidad.
Each of the wells are expected to take between 80 - 100 days to drill and evaluate.
The Intrepid block 5(c) is located approximately 90 km off the east coast of Trinidad in the Columbus Basin, and covers 80,041 gross acres.
