(UK) - Some 128 workers have been evacuated from the Shell-operated North Sea Tern Alpha oil platform after an electrical fire.
The fire, said to have broken out in a gas generator at about 12:50 am Thursday, was brought under control shortly before 5 am.
No one was injured in the blaze, thought to have been caused when a high-voltage electrical motor overheated, says a local source.
A total of 56 people remained on the platform during the fire, and Shell says all the rig's 184 workers had been accounted for.
The platform is located some 105 mi off Shetland.
