STAVANGER, Norway -- The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has announced the APA 2009, comprising the predefined areas with blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, and the Barents Sea. APA 2009 comprises the same predefined areas as APA 2008, with no expansion, the NPD reports.
The application deadline is 12:00 hrs on Tuesday Sept. 15, 2009. The awards will be made at the turn of the year 2009/2010.
In APA 2009, applications can be made for all blocks or parts of blocks in the predefined areas which are not already included in a license at the deadline date. This means that acreage which is relinquished in the application period is regarded as announced at the time of relinquishment, the NPD says. The acreage will consecutively be included in NPD's interactive fact map maps.
