LONDON --Fairfield Energy has acquired the Clipper South discovery area in the UK southern North Sea from Shell and ExxonMobil.

The acreage comprises blocks 48/19c, 48/19a, and 48/20a. The Clipper South gas field was discovered in 1983 via well 48/19a-3, and further delineated in 1992 by well 48/19c-13Z.

Fairfield plans a full subsurface evaluation to ascertain the potential for a fast-track development. It will also seek to improve reservoir performance through applying modern completion technology in the Rotliegendes reservoir.
