ABERDEEN, UK – Finning Power Systems will showcase the new Cat C15 ACERT ATEX engine at Offshore Europe in Aberdeen, UK, Sept. 6-8.
Finning says the C15 is ATEX certified and is suitable for use in atmospheres classed as Zone 2, gas group IIA and temperature class T3. The company has designed and manufactured a new engine gas cooler to ensure the C15 meets hazardous area requirements in line with EN1834-1.
The system is explosion tested and is certified to maintain T3 skin temperatures for ambient applications of up to 50°C, for optimized operating flexibility. The engine meets the current offshore emissions requirements, including IMO Tier II and EPA Marine Tier 2, and is EPA Marine Tier 3 capable.
For advanced digital engine management, the 536 bhp unit features an ADEM A4 control system, offering an improved user face, display system, shutdown controls and system diagnostics.
