Weatherford International Ltd. will perform the production riser installation portion of the upcoming Devil's Tower spar for Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., a subsidiary of Dominion. The Devil's Tower truss spar is another world-class deepwater floating production system installed in 5,610 ft of water in Mississippi Canyon block 773 in the Gulf of Mexico.
The first riser installation is scheduled for 1Q 2004.
Dominion plans eight dry tree spar wells tied back from the sea floor with the production risers. All risers will be installed using Weatherford's Stabberless System, described by Weatherford as a hazard reducing means of running casing and tubing that reduces costs and increases safety. The top tension, single barrier riser design is similar to the risers Weatherford installed recently for other deepwater operators.
