Cnooc Ltd. has successfully started commercial production from the Wenchang offshore project in the South China Sea. The company independently made the discoveries in the Wenchang 13-1 and 13-2 fields in the western Pearl River Mouth Basin, 140 km east of Hainan Island. It has booked about 55.36 MMbbl net reserves in the fields. Peak average production capacity of this project is expected at 50,000 b/d.
Cnooc Ltd. is the operator of both fields produces oil from two fixed platforms and the Nanhai Endeavor FPSO.
