Statoil commissions two vessels to cope with heavy seismic acquisition workload in Norwegian sector
Offshore staff
Last year, Statoil acquired over 3,000 sq km of seismic across its Norwegian shelf exploration acreage. The company has secured two survey vessels for its 2006 program, which will be spread over the North, Norwegian and Barents Seas.
In connection with Norway's 2005 awards in pre-defined areas (APA), Statoil will compile more than 2,500 sq km of new seismic in the North Sea and the Halten/Nordland area of the Norwegian Sea. This does not take into account new acreage likely to be awarded in the next couple of months under the country's 19th licensing round.
