Sonatrach signs Algeria-Spain gas transport agreement

(Algeria) Cepsa and Sonatrach have signed an accord to take gas from Algeria to southern Spain via the proposed Medgaz pipeline across the Mediterranean Sea. The agreement, effective for 20 years, guarantees throughput to Cepsa of 1.6 bcm/yr.
Both companies are founder participants in the project, which is expected to deliver first supplies in 2009.
