Propulsion /Mooring Systems Continuous chain of orders for Ramnas around the globe
The production shop at Ramnas Ankarkatting has been running at full speed as the anchor chain manufacturer fulfils its current orders.
An upsurge in floating production projects in the North Sea and elsewhere has kept the tendering department busy, according to executive vice-president Hakan Petterson. Bids are now under review for the supply of chain to Statoil's Norne and Norsk Hydro's Njord projects.
Ramnas' most recent award is an urgent order for the Hibernia project off Newfoundland. It is supplying 120mm NVK4 RIG chain to hold the concrete GBS structure in place during the later phases of construction. Delivery is due mid 1995
Last December, the company made deliveries of 4.5in. chain to Amoco's Liuhua floater development in China, and 4 1/4--in. chain for the Cossack project off northwest Australia. Then at the end of January, it shipped the final 2,000 tonnes of the 6,000t order of 152mm chain for Hydro's Troll Oil project in Norway.
Recently, it was due to complete two sets of orders for Bluewater: one for 5.25in. chain for Amerada Hess' Fife project in the UK North Sea, and a 4in. and 4.375in. delivery for a Unocal project in Thailand. Its next due consignment is 5in. and 6in. chain for Hamilton's Liverpool Bay development off the UK's west coast.
