Over 5,000 industry visitors and Vietnamese government officials are forecast to attend PetroVietnam '97 during March 26-28. This will be Vietnam's third international oil and gas exploration trade exhibition. The venue is the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition & Convention Center (HIECC).

More than 150 companies will be represented from 20 countries: among these, France, the UK and USA will also be staging national pavilions. France's stand, organized by the French trade association GEP, will include Bouygues Offshore and Bureau Veritas. The US pavilion, supported by the commercial section of the US Embassy in Hanoi, will feature among others Mobil, Unocal, Baker Hughes, J Ray McDermott, Enron and Western Atlas.

The objective of this biennial show is to create a platform for leading international exhibitors to meet decision makers in Vietnam's petroleum sector. Business matchmaking meetings will also be arranged for foreign companies seeking agents in Vietnam. And there will be technical presentations from some of the Vietnamese oil and gas sector's leading participants.

Over the two days preceding the show, The Vietnam Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals Summit '97 will be held at the Omni Saigon Hotel. This fourth annual summit, organized by the Vietnam Oil & Gas Corporation and Centre for Management Technology, will feature as its main theme Strategies & Challenges of Vietnam's Expanding Energy Sector. Participants will include high-ranking PetroVietnam and government officials.

Concurrent with PetroVietnam '97, the HIECC will also stage Natural Gas Tech '97, covering equipment and services for natural gas processing and production, and Refinery Tech '97.

PetroVietnam '97 is organized by the state-run Vietnam Oil & Gas Corporation and Reed Tradex.
