HOUSTON — Talos Energy has formed a partnership with an affiliate of Repsol to conduct a seismic reprocessing project in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM).

This will cover a 400,000-acre area, of which 96,500 acres are under lease by Talos, in the deepwater Green Canyon and Atwater Valley regions. The companies will seek to identify subsea tieback and exploration prospects that would be hosted by Talos’ Neptune platform.

A program of topside modification and new chemical treatments at Neptune should be completed shortly.

Elsewhere in the GoM, Talos hopes to start production by early 2024 from its Lime Rock and Venice discoveries, via tiebacks to the Ram Powell platform.

The company participated in Murphy Oil’s recent ultradeepwater Marmalard well, which encountered pay sands in both targets and should undergo completion operations shortly ahead of first production in early 2024.

Beacon Offshore Energy’s Claiborne #1 well (Talos 25.5%) was shut in early this summer, but a forthcoming rig intervention should reinstate production by first-quarter 2024.

The Bayou Bend Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) partnership expects to spud the Talos-operated offshore stratigraphic well in the present quarter, along with a Chevron-operated onshore stratigraphic well in the first half of next year.

TLCS intends to file an additional Class VI permit application in 2024 for Bayou Bend CCS.
