Shearwater and TGS win seismic survey work offshore Angola and Indonesia
Shearwater will deploy two vessels for its deepwater OBN survey for ExxonMobil in Angolan waters, and a TGS vessel will manage a longer exploration/4D campaign offshore Indonesia.
The project will be delivered using Shearwater’s OBN platform, featuring the SW Tasman (pictured_ and Pearl node system, with SW Gallien deployed as the source vessel.
Esso Exploration Angola Block 15 Ltd. has contracted Shearwater Geoservices for a two-month, deepwater ocean-bottom node (OBN) seismic survey, Shearwater reported Aug. 26.
This will get underway shortly in Block 15, using a combination of Shearwater’s SW Tasman acquisition vessel with a Pearl node system and SW Gallien as a source vessel.
Offshore Indonesia, TGS reported Aug. 25 that it has secured a streamer contract to acquire about 10,000 sq km of 3D data offshore Indonesia.
Much of the campaign will be for exploration purposes, with the final phase, lasting about a month, involving 4D seismic data acquisition for production monitoring.
One of TGS’ Ramform vessels equipped with Geostreamer technology will start work on the eight-month survey during the fourth quarter.
