TGS says the OBN surveying project provides valuable insight for companies preparing for anticipated lease rounds as early as the second half of 2025.
TGS has completed the Amendment Phase 4 ultra-long offset ocean-bottom node survey in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The project spanned 49 outer continental shelf (OCS) blocks across the Mississippi Canyon and Ewing Bank protraction areas.
It was designed to support exploration and development and to provide insights for companies preparing for anticipated lease rounds, which could take place later this year.
For the first time in the Gulf, TGS deployed its Gemini enhanced-frequency seismic source in an ultra-long offset acquisition setting. The service is said to deliver a low-frequency, omnidirectional signal. Combined with modern processing techniques, it is said to greatly improve illumination beneath complex salt bodies.
Initial Amendment products should be available during the third quarter, with final data expected in second-quarter 2026.
