LAGOS, Nigeria – Lekoil and Green Energy International have contracted Sinopec Changjiang Engineering Services to acquire 197 sq km (76 sq mi) of 3D seismic over the Otakikpo field in the OML 11 lease, offshore and onshore in the southeastern Niger Delta.

The aim is to update the existing 2D coverage.

Acquisition should begin during the current quarter and marks the start of the phase two development of Otakikpo, designed to double production to around 20,000 b/d. Lekoil adds that the partners are pursuing all relevant permits prior to mobilization.

Following the completion of the seismic survey, the company will process and interpret the new 3D data, subsequently releasing an updated competent person’s report.

Currently Otakikpo is thought to hold 56.6 MMbbl of 2C contingent reserves, plus an additional 163 MMbbl of stock tank oil initially in place upside on a P50, unrisked basis.
