THE HAGUE, The Netherlands --Wintershall is looking to develop the E18-A and P9-A gas fields in the southern part of the Dutch North Sea, and to acquire new 3D seismic off the Dutch coast this fall.

In the neighboring German offshore sector, the company recently secured a three-year exploration license for blocks H10, H13 and H14, and for part-blocks G12a and G15a, all around 80 km (50 mi) northwest of the East Frisian island of Borkum.

Wintershall already has seismic data for the 1,500 sq km (579 sq mi) acreage, and has also been compiling 2,300 sq km (888 sq mi) of new survey data in the Dutch, German, and Danish sectors under one of its largest ever cross-border acquisition initiatives

In the UK North Sea, the company is partnering Maersk Oil in a well on the Ockley prospect, where geologists estimate up to 5 bcm of gas and 5 MM bbl of condensate in place.
