MELBOURNE, Australia -- Bass Strait Oil Co. has begun a seismic survey in Gippsland basin permit VIC/P42. The Western Trident is preparing to conduct a two- to three- week 3D survey covering 503 sq km (194 sq mi).
The seismic survey is the first phase of a farm-in by Apache Northwest Pty. Ltd. who also will be the operator. The second phase includes drilling an exploration well to earn 50% interest. Bass and Inpex would then hold 20% each.
