3D seismic begins in Katandra off Australia

OMV Australia Ltd. has scheduled a $3.5-million 3D seismic survey for this week in the Timor Sea Katandra prospect offshore Australia, says partner Avery Resources Inc.

CALGARY, Canada --OMV Australia Ltd. has scheduled a $3.5-million 3D seismic survey for this week in the Timor Sea Katandra prospect offshore Australia, says partner Avery Resources Inc.

TheVeritas Voyager will collect data over 681 sq km (293 sq mi) which include the 272 sq km (105 sq mi) AC/P 24 Katandra permit. Seismic data collection I expected to require six weeks while processing and interpretation will take six months.

"The aim of the 3D seismic survey is to locate a well that would establish commerciality. Katandra could be the jewel in Avery's crown," says David Little, chairman and CEO. "We have been awaiting the commencement of this seismic study for some time and we are very excited to have it under way. Katandra's potential is significant."
