TRONDHEIM, Norway --EMGS is chartering a second new build vessel to operate its proprietary seabed logging technology for exploration worldwide. The charter runs for five years plus options.

The company ordered the vessel from the Taubaatkompaniet/BOA group in Norway. It will be constructed at the Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder shipyard, north of Trondheim, with delivery due late in 2008.

EMGS' technique is used to detect subsurface hydrocarbons via the transmission of electromagnetic energy. The company expects to have seven specialist vessels in operation from the end of 2008, and may expand its capacity further.
