LONDON -- In two moves, Schlumberger has added a new module to Petrel and also made Petrel plug-ins available online.
A "Structural and Fault Analysis" module developed by RDR for Petrel aims to enhance fault imaging, mapping, modeling, and structure analysis. According to RDR, Its tools allow identification and mapping of faults in seismic data, integration of faults in geomodels, analysis of the impact of faults (e.g. reservoir juxtaposition zones, fault plane maps, fault rock property predictions) and p new methods to use user calibrated relationships (e.g. from well data) to define the fault sealing properties of prospects and fields. This data can be incorporated within the simulator. Also, for the first time true geometric uncertainty can be included throughout the process.
This is the first externally produced module to be fully integrated into Petrel.
Meanwhile, Schlumberger has launched Ocean Store. It is a website to buy and download Petrel software plug-ins. Using the Ocean development framework, programmers and users can focus on the science of their plug-ins and leverage the infrastructure within the Ocean platform to accelerate delivery of new capabilities, says Schlumberger.
