STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has signed a three-year frame agreement with Aker Solutions for subsurface consultancy services, starting March 1, 2010. There are further options to extend the agreement with two one-year periods.

The services relate to production/exploration geology and reservoir technology, and will be applied to Statoil's assets worldwide.

Erik Sverre Jenssen, president of Aker Solutions' geo business, said: "We are one of the largest subsurface consultancy businesses on the Norwegian continental shelf … we will probably be looking at expanding our capacity within the market segments the contract covers.”

Aker Geo is staffed by 60 geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers. Its main disciplines are geological and geophysical interpretation, petrophysics, reservoir modeling and simulation, wellsite geology, and production technology/operations.
