Grove keen to test Sambuca
Offshore staff
LONDON, UK -- Grove Energy is seeking a semsubmersible rig to drill two wells on prospects in the Sicily Channel. This follows recent re-evaluation of 2D and other data sets over the company's Pantelleria and Kerkouane permits, either side of the Italian/Tunisian median line.
On the north (Italian) side of the Pantelleria Graben, the company is keen to drill the Sambuca prospect.
On the Tunisian side, it has identified a large hydrocarbon-bearing structure close to the Dougga-1 well, drilled by Shell in 1981.
Although there is a shortage of rigs currently in the Mediterranean, Grove is teaming up with other explorers in the region to tender collectively.
